Marvin & Hell House
In which Marvin shares the current drama over the youth group's "Harvest Festival" Haunted House. See the sinners burning in the fires of hell tortured by the demons. Bring your heathen schoolmates so that they can be scared straight.Marvin hopes for a pool date tommorrow with Jim, the youth pastor. Oh and Marvin reports in about Rachel, who he feels is about to make a dangerous move.

Marvin I have heard about these "Hell Houses" church hauntings, and if I remember rightly us queer folks don't do too well in them either. Are they going to depict any lgbt people in the fires of hell? how do you feel about that?
Ugh. I went to a hell house when I was in high school, it was horribly. Luckily, they didn't have any gay people, but they did have a pretty tasteless abortion scene.
I dunno, scaring people into faith that like really bothers me.
Oh, and Marvin! Your post was very helpful to me. I'd just been trying to decide which church I should go to tomorrow... and I was starting to lean towards the Episcopal one, because it's just down the road. But you're right, that'd be a mistake.
:-P
Heath, of course you went to Hell House, I can just see it! You poor thing. I read the script once that they usually use for that thing. Ugh. I remember a gay character or at least one that was supposed to be the gay character.
You know people wonder where we get the idea that we will rot in hell for our queerness. It is pounded into our heads from childhood. Exodus never has to hold the threat of hell over us; the church does the job for them and we run into the arms of the ex-gay movement to save us from hell in this life and the next, not realizing that we can very well be creating a different sort of hell for ourselves.
Okay, don't get me started!
